Questions & answers
You're planning your big day and I'm sure you have lots of questions. So that you can concentrate fully on your anticipation, I have put together the most important answers about wedding videography and photography here.
Photos capture the moment, but a wedding film captures the emotions, the voices, and the movement. The trembling in your voice during wedding vows, the laughter during speeches, or the dynamism of your wedding dance. Only a professional wedding video makes all of these aspects tangible for eternity. At Studio Hanselmann, the focus is on telling an emotional story, not just stringing scenes together.
My style is “cinematic storytelling.” This means that I work documentarily and unobtrusively in the background to capture real, unposed moments. At the same time, I use cinematic techniques for editing and color grading so that your film looks like a real movie. Authenticity comes first. I always bring 2-3 ideas for the more intimate bridal couple moments, which can be seamlessly incorporated into the rest of the film.
It depends on the package you choose. Most couples opt for a highlight film (3—6 minutes) that summarizes the most emotional highlights of the day with music. In addition, I often offer a longer “documentary edit” (15—45 minutes), which includes the ceremony and speeches in full length.
Absolutely. Good sound is more important for an emotional film than the picture. I use professional small microphones for the newlyweds and speakers to record the wedding vows and emotional speeches in crystal-clear quality and integrate them into the film.
Yes, when weather and local no-fly zones permit, drone footage is included in the price.
As an official licensed drone pilot, I can fly in otherwise impassable places even with special permits. The drones give your wedding film that certain “something” through spectacular landscape shots of the location and you get an even more special connection to the location.
Absolutely! The chemistry between us has to be right. That’s why I warmly invite you to a non-binding meeting at my photo studio and creative space in St. Gallen.
The special thing about Studio Hanselmann: As part of this meeting, I offer you a free initial photo shoot.
- Where? In my studio in St. Gallen.
- Location: Only 8 minutes from the train station.
- Advantage: After a very good cup of coffee or tea, you’ll lose your shyness in front of the camera, and we’ll already have the first beautiful images for your invitation cards.
Yes, although my focus is on videography, Studio Hanselmann also offers wedding photography or works in a team to cover both. The advantage for you: One contact person, a uniform visual style and a team that is perfectly coordinated.
Popular dates in summer (May to September) are often booked out 12 to 18 months in advance. It is best to ask as soon as possible as soon as your date and location are available. (Contact form link)
Of course. As a wedding videographer, I travel all over Switzerland and internationally. Whether in Zurich, Lucerne, Bern or abroad.
For my part, specialties include Tuscany and California.
Quality takes time. As a rule, you will receive a first small preview (teaser) just a few days after the wedding. The finished wedding film and edited photos are usually ready within 4 to 8 weeks of the wedding. To the offers
You get access to a password-protected online gallery for easy download and sharing with guests. The wedding video is usually provided in 4K resolution via a download link.
Yes, definitely. A written contract is the basis for relaxed cooperation. It's for your safety and mine. It transparently sets out all services (filming time, scope of the film, delivery times) and costs. As soon as the contract is signed and the appointment reservation fee (deposit) has been paid, the date is blocked for you in the calendar.
It's every couple's nightmare — and mine too. However, I am prepared for this very unlikely scenario. I have a wide network of professional wedding videographers and photographers in Eastern Switzerland and throughout Switzerland. I will do everything I can to arrange an equivalent replacement for you so that your day does not go unattended.
Sometimes life doesn't work out as planned. The exact cancellation conditions are set out fairly and transparently in the contract. If I simply reschedule, I will of course try to be accommodating and take over the new date for you, provided that my calendar is still available. In case of force majeure, we will find a new date or you will get the money back.
Don't worry, almost all couples feel the same way! My goal is to capture real emotions, not posed poses.
- With the video: It's even easier here than with the photo because you're moving. You look at each other, run, laugh — I film the events as a documentary. Most of the time, you won't even notice that I'm filming.
- The best exercise: That is exactly why I offer the free introductory photo shoot in my studio in St. Gallen. There we quickly notice how you “tick” and you lose your fear of the lens. By the day of your wedding, you'll be professionals. (Link to get to know shooting)
Good preparation helps me to clear your mind. Three points are particularly important:
- Best man contact: Please give me the contact details of your groomsmen in advance. This allows me to coordinate surprises or program items directly with them without burdening you with them on the big day.
- List for group photos: If you would like formal group pictures, please create a list of the desired constellations (e.g. “bridal couple + parents”). Give this list to a person (e.g. the perpetrator) who is looking for the people. That saves an enormous amount of time.
- Time buffer: Don't plan the day too closely. Things often take longer than expected (congratulations, transfer). A 15-20 minute buffer between program items relieves you of stress.
For the most beautiful, cinematic recordings, I recommend the so-called “Golden Hour” — i.e. the hour before sunset. The light is then soft, warm and flatters the skin. It's often enough to sneak out for 15-20 minutes during dinner. The result is usually the most spectacular pictures of the whole day.
We make the best out of it! Rain can even have a very atmospheric and romantic effect on photos and videos. I have experience with difficult lighting conditions. We can also use my studio in St. Gallen or covered areas of your location as plan B. Your mood is important, when you shine, you won't even see the rain.
Fun fact: I received my first award for the most beautiful wedding picture for a picture that was taken in Maienfeld between vines in torrential rain.
Yes, that would be very nice. Because I'm usually by your side all day and often until 10! Working highly concentrated for hours, a hot meal is welcome to keep your energy up. It's best to plan the meal for me when you're eating too — because no one wants to be filmed chewing.
I'm adapting to your society. My goal is to look like a guest so I don't stand out. I usually wear neat clothes in the form of a shirt and pleated pants so that I can act in the background and still be professional.
As a professional videographer, I work with bright cameras and lenses that deliver excellent quality even in low light without destroying the mood due to bright spotlights. When partying in the evening, I use my own discreet light sources as needed to perfectly capture the action on the dance floor.
A wedding that feels just like you.
I work like a silent guest. No big equipment, no fuss and no hassle. As if your best friend was there with the camera.
